When it comes to
feeding your baby, breastmilk is the very best source of nutrition.
It supplies all the nutrients they
need for the first 4-6 months of life.
Most mothers are able to breastfeed and choose
to do so. It's convenient, provides all the nutrients your
baby needs for healthy growth and development - and it's free!

Note: Cows' milk is not suitable
as a main milk drink for infants until 12 months
of age. If a decision is made not to breastfeed,
choose a suitable infant formula instead. (see Choosing
a Formula)
The Ministry of Health recommends that if you do
choose not to breastfeed you should use a suitable
infant formula until the baby is 12 months old. |
